Crash exercise to prepare for Koksijde Air Day
Crash exercise to prepare for Koksijde Air Day

On the basis of Koksijde a C-130 caused an accident in which a dozen persons were injured and one dead.
It was an emergency drill as a prelude to the Kokside Air Day on August 28th.

Scenario: during the Air Day a C-130 lands on the runway, hits a car - which starts to burn - and ends up on a public road. On the public road two cars collide frontally and is a cyclist falls. Because there is an air show in progress, the various emergency services are already available. The rest hurry to the disaster scene.

This crash exercise was held as preparation for the Kokside Air Day on August 28, 2008.
It is an annual obligation that must be maintained before to a big event such as an air show.
The outcome of the exercise (Post-Crash Management PCM) was positive.

There were only a few classic communication problems between the army and civil services due to the use of different material.
This problem is resolved by the use of liaison officers.
